Calculate how many calories you’ll burn walking, running or cycling. Enter your weight, time or distance to get an estimate, its ideal for planning for workouts.
How Many Calories Did I Just Burn?
You lace up, go outside, and run for 30 minutes. But how many calories did you really burn? Enough to deserve that pint later? The bad news: your body lacks a built-in calorie counter. The good news, we don't.
METs to the Rescue
Our Calorie Burn Planner uses the concept of METs (Metabolic Equivalent of Task), a euphemism for "how much harder your body is working than when you're sitting still." Given your weight and the duration you were active (and, optionally, the distance), we crunch the numbers for you. Walking, running, cycling, each has its MET. Then, voila - calorie estimate.
It's an Estimate, Not an Oracle
Heads up, the number you get is a guide, not gospel. Many things, fitness level, terrain, efficiency, even wind, can change your actual burn. But this gives you a smart estimate to plan workouts, meals, or just feel a little less guilty for that piece of cake.
Calorie Burn Planner
Estimate calories burned in walking, running, or cycling. You can enter time or distance (for applicable activities).
Final Word
You now have a crude calorie-burn compass in your pocket (or screen). Use it well, don't stress it, and always remember, wellness is more than numbers.
If your estimate is ridiculously off (or you got a laughably low figure), drop a note below. We welcome feedback, stories of "walking uphill both ways," or just questions about new activities to add. Your data isn't ideal, but it's a fun beginning.
