Use our Sleep Calculator to find the best times to go to bed or wake up based on sleep cycles. Adjust for your fall-asleep time and cycle length to wake more refreshed.
Why Aren't We Waking Up Refreshed?
You're sleeping in 'til 6:30, but still groggy despite "8 hours" of sleep. That's because sleep isn't simply a matter of how long you're sleeping; it's a matter of when you wake up during your sleep cycle. Wake up in the middle of the cycle? You're most likely to be walking around like a zombie, not a champion.
Sleep Cycles & Fall-Asleep Time Matter
Each 90 or so (give or take) your brain cycles through light, deep, and REM sleep. If you wake up from deep sleep, you'll feel disoriented. Add in how long it takes for your brain to slow down (maybe 10, 15, or 20 minutes), and that "8-hour sleep standard" isn't as easy as it seems.
Let the Calculator Do the Heavy Lifting
Come in whenever you want to wake or when you're going to bed, select your cycle length and sleep latency, and click "Calculate." You'll receive a list of best waking times or sleep times that place you at cycle boundaries, happier mornings and groggy zombies are less common.
Sleep Cycle & Bedtime Planner
Choose whether to plan **bedtimes** or **wake-up times**, adjust cycle length and time to fall asleep.
Final Word
Voilà, no longer wondering if your 6 hours "was good enough." Try out some of the suggested schedules and see which one gives you that alert, not lethargic, feeling.
